About Amanda

Amanda Wells Design was launched in January 2008

Amanda Wells developed her enthusiasm for interior decorating and fabrics from an early age watching her grandfather Campbell Reid in the showroom of his own company Whytock & Reid. The Edinburgh based company was renowned for interior decorating and provided an excellent service to many, including Her Majesty The Queen's official residence in Scotland, Holyrood Palace.

Amanda's skills in soft furnishings developed throughout her life thanks to the education and support from her mother Denise Gray and Godmother Moppet Cooke-Hurle, both of whom are keen seamstresses. Moppet has her own well established soft-furnishing business in County Durham, and strongly influenced and encouraged Amanda, in the development of her skills.

Amanda's high quality of work was confirmed in July 2009 when she gained distinction in her soft furnishing qualifications, awarded by the Association of Master Upholsterers & Soft Furnishers. Amanda was tutored by Wendy Shorter, who is very influential within the interiors industry and has since written a book on soft furnishings (www.wendyshorterinteriors.co.uk)
